Etihad offers free overnight stays on connecting flights
Etihad and the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism announced at the Arabian Travel Market the launch of a new service offering guests flying through Abu Dhabi a free stay at a hotel in the UAE capital.
The ability to add a stopover and select a hotel has now been added to the online booking process on the Etihad website and GDS systems.
Travelers can stay at the following participating hotels: Aloft Abu Dhabi, Centro Al Manhal, City Seasons Al Hamra Hotel, Golden Tulip Abu Dhabi Downtown, Millennium Al Rawdah Hotel, Premier Inn Abu Dhabi Capital Center Hotel, Premier Inn Abu Dhabi International Airport Hotel, Southern Sun Abu Dhabi and Traders Qaryat Al Beri Hotel.
Guests are entitled to two consecutive nights at their chosen hotel on only one leg of their journey through Abu Dhabi and only applies to travelers with a stay of more than 24 hours.
“We plan to attract more than 100,000 visitors to Abu Dhabi through the stopover program next year. And we are confident that once they get a taste of what the capital has to offer, they will return again,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.
The success of such programs is illustrated by TAP Portugal's stopover initiative.
Portugal's flag carrier recently announced that its stopover program brought more than 200,000 additional visitors to the country last year.
