Tim Mälzer was born in 1971 not far from Hamburg and started his apprenticeship as a chef after having finished high school and civil service with the age of 21. Tim Mälzer actually planned to become a hotel manager, but as he won several awards in cooking competitions, absolved a practical training in Hongkong and had worked for three years as chef de cuisine in London, he decided he had found his profession. He soon became a TV-Chef, and received the “Golden Camera”, a renowned TV Award in Germany, for his serials “Schmeckt nicht – gibt´s nicht” (this roughly translates as “not tasty – not possible”). His books with the names “Born to Cook” number 1 and 2 are bestsellers in Germany. At a “gastronomy summit” in Madrid Tim Mälzer was named as one of the seven most important “TV-Chefs” of the world.
